The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, says he will rebuild and secure Nigeria if he is voted in as president of the country in 2023.
He gave the assurance in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Wednesday, during the presidential campaign rally of the party.
Obi, who was greeted by a huge crowd of supporters at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, also said, “We will secure Nigeria as one united entity. We will secure Nigeria as a federating unit.”
He added, “We will ensure the rule of law,” and move Nigeria from consumption to production status as a nation.
Obi also promised to assist Cross River State to develop its tourism, adding, “We will make tourism work in the state.”
He urged the supporters not to vote for people they did not trust.
Also speaking, the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, urged the supporters to make the right choice in 2023, adding that, “That choice is Peter Obi.”
The state chairman of the party, Ogar Osim, while welcoming the presidential candidate to the state, assured that the state would vote for Obi.
A chieftain of the LP, Prof Pat Utomi, said, “A new Nigeria is possible” with Peter Obi, adding that, “it begins with you.” While a social media influencer, Aisha Yusuf, said the “2023 election will be election for survival. We will protest with our PVCs” by voting for Peter Obi.
A national officer of the Nigerian Labour Congress, John Ushie, said the organised labour was behind Peter Obi.
“Peter Obi will rescue Nigeria. He is going to be a production president and not a consumption president,” he said, adding that a door-to-door campaign should be carried out to ensure victory for Obi.
