Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Christianah Monisade Afuye, has assured the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council that the party’s flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would secure over 75 per cent of total votes cast in the state in the 2023 elections.
She said that Tinubu, being part of Ekiti, an in-law and political leader as well as a mentor to many great politicians of Ekiti’s extraction, deserves to be compensated with votes.
Afuye, who spoke, yesterday, while donating cash and consumables to Ogoga-in-council and across 11 wards in Ikere Local Council to mark the Christmas and New Year festivities, also empowered 110 Ikere indigenes with cash gift to lift them out of poverty and also donated N1.5 million to party members and leaders across the wards.
The deputy governor, in a statement by her Special Assistant (Media), Victor Ogunje, appreciated Ikere voters for the support exhibited for Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the last governorship election, saying that the votes garnered in the town boosted the party’s chances in the keenly contested polls.
She alluded to Tinubu as one of the best brains and most experienced leaders with fervour to sail the country to prosperity, after President Muhammadu Buhari’s exit.
Afuye said that the APC, having majority in the National and State Houses of Assembly, would smoothen governance and fast-track progress under the incoming government of Tinubu and Oyebanji’s administration in Ekiti.
MEANWHILE, the Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance (ATSCGG), Ondo State chapter, yesterday, said that Tinubu would salvage the economy of Nigeria and as well bring back the lost glory of the country.
According to the coalition, which has over 150 support groups within its fold, support for Tinubu became imperative owing to his antecedent in developing human personnel and infrastructure.
The State Director for Media and Publicity of the Coalition, Segun Odidi, who spoke at the rally in Akure, the state capital, said: “We are supporting Tinubu because of his antecedent. He has done it before, and he understands governance.”
On his part, the state Coordinator of ATSCGG, Olanrewaju Kazeem, said that the rally was designed to inform Ondo State people of the capability and capacity of Tinubu to lead the country in 2023.
