As the 2023 elections draw near, the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party has continued to receive defectors from the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party into its fold.
In the latest development, four former deputy chairmen from Billiri, Kwami and Nafada local government areas and a former councillor have defected from the PDP to the NNPP.
They joined the NNPP after meeting with the Gombe NNPP governorship candidate for the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Khamisu Mailantarki.
The defectors are a former deputy chairman, Billiri Local Government Area Yila Dankuka, who served from 2013 to 2015; and Philip Bataliya, who also served as deputy chairman, Billiri LGA in 2003.
Others are a former deputy chairman of Kwami LGA, Auwalu Daba; a former deputy chairman of Nafada LGA, Aliyu Idris Biri; and a former councillor in Tal Ward in Billiri LGA between 2013 and 2015, Muhammed Balas Tal.
