The Young Progressive Congress (YPP) Governorship Candidate in Kwara State, Waziri Yakubu Gobir, has promised that his administration will represent the interest of the state’s citizens’ by ensuring that their needs are met, if voted into office.
Gobir, Madawaki of Ilorin, who gave the assurance, yesterday, during his homecoming campaign at Patigi Local Council, alongside his running mate, Bolujoko George, and other party members, added that his visit was a part of a statewide campaign to canvass for votes ahead of the Kwara 2023 governorship election.
While at the palace of Etsu Patigi, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Bologi Umar ll, Gobir popularly called “Alaanu Mekunu”, said that if elected, his administration would put an end to the huge infrastructural gap in the state, as well as bring government closer to the populace.
According to him, “I will deliver the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the residents.”
His words: “Your highness, the last time I visited Patigi, I discovered that Patigi is dominated by young, vibrant youths who are graduates without jobs and farmers without support from the government.”
Patigi people are hardworking, but they are not given support or encouragement from the state government.
“The gap is so huge and requires a pure and serious-minded person at the helm of affairs to close it. I want to make a promise to your Highness, and the entire people of Patigi that if, God willing, I am elected as the Governor of Kwara State in the coming elections, I will give the needed attention to Kwara North in terms of infrastructural development, economic development and empowerment.”
He said that his agenda is to bring the government closer to the masses, create jobs for youths and ensure food security by encouraging and supporting farmers through mechanised farming.
“I seek your support not because I am from Kwara Central, but because I do not intend to be the governor of Kwara Central or Kwara South or Kwara North, but I intend to be governor of Kwara State, and the governor for all,” Gobir stated.
The Etsu of Patigi, while responding, appreciated him for his support for the poor. He, who urged Gobir not to relent in supporting the poor, prayed for his success in the 2023 general elections.
