The Nigeria police force has lost an officer during a rescue mission of Edo Area Customary Court President, Precious Aigbonoga.
Aigbonoga was kidnapped in Edo State, on Monday, January 9 around the Ugoneki area on her way to Igueben Local Government Area where she serves as the president of Igueben area customary court.
The state police command spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, in a statement on Thursday confirmed the rescue of Aigbonoga rescue and disclosed that a police officer was also killed during the operation.
The policeman however did not disclose the identity of the deceased officer.
Nwabuzor added that the rescue mission of Aigbonoga was a joint force between the military and police agents at Scorpion Hill inside the forest where she was held.
Meanwhile, the publicity secretary of the executive committee of the Nigerian Bar Association in Benin, Festus Usiobaifo, stated that the chairman of the committee,Nosa Edo-Osagie, commiserated with the security agencies on the loss of their colleague and also commended them for their prompt response.
