Patani Traditional Rulers Council in Delta State has called on voters to vote for credible governorship candidate to succeed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Chairman of Patani Council of Traditional Rulers and Pere of Kabowei Kingdom, Shadrach Erebulu, Adou lll, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues when the governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Kenneth Gbagi, took his campaign to the palace of the Pere of Kabowei in Patani, said: “We should vote that candidate who will represent us based on their characters and capabilities to perform.”
The monarch was flanked by Ebenana-owei of Tarakiri Kingdom, Dr. Owoupele Danladi Foubiri, Angulu 1, and Ebenana-owei of Kumbowei Kingdom, Dr. Jackson Foubiriowei Angalabiri Egbain II.
They insisted the electorate should vote for candidates in the next general elections using their current capacities and antecedents as criteria.
“We have listened to you keenly and you have come and seen what is obtainable and what is most needed in Patani Council and I am sure you have taken note of these things.
“It is a known fact that you are an industrialist, everyone already knows that about you. Everyone that has been in Warri knows Robinson Gbagi Plaza and Signatious Hotel and other investments, which you have within the State.
“Listening to you today, you have brought out laudable projects and ideas that you have in stock for our dear state and for Patani Council in particular.
Gbagi, who was at the palace to seek royal blessing, assured the kings and their subjects of bringing government closer to the people at the grassroots.
MEANWHILE, the Secretary-General of International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Switzerland, Prof. Rafał Marcin Wasik, has commended the accreditation of his commission by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a Foreign Election Observer for the 2023 general elections.
The secretary, in a statement made available to Journalists in Asaba, Delta State by the Ambassador at Large and Head of the Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria, Dr. Duru Hezekiah, said: “Today, the International Human Rights Commission Switzerland received an invitation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria to join other International and Intergovernmental Organisations to observe the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
“I am glad and I wish to especially thank the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for ensuring policies and practices for International communities to participate in a critical time of Nigeria’s transition, urging him to strengthen the adequate provision of security to further deepen democracy.”
Rafał maintained that IHRC has played critical roles in the transition to the democratic process in different countries, including Africa, helping to build public confidence in the honesty of electoral processes.
