Bendel Insurance FC reigned supreme in the battle of in-form teams on matchd-day four of the Nigeria Professional Football League, thrashing Remo stars 3-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday.
Two first half goals by striking partners, Imade Osarenkhoe and Ismael Sarki as well as a second half strike by Austin Ogunye did the job for the Benin Arsenal who maintained their perfect start to the season.
In-form striker, Osa Osarenkhoe opened scoring in the 5th minute of the game with a poke during a goal mouth scramble to register his fourth goal of the season in as many games.
Twenty minutes later, Ismael also got his name registered for Insurance’s second of the game and his third of the season with another steal inside the area.
The visitors had a chance to reduce the deficit before the end of the first half, but Amas Obasogie pulled off a superb save to deny Okon Anekeme’s header.
Remo Stars controlled possession after the restart, but they were casual in front of goal and their hosts were still waiting to punish them.
Osa had another chance to take the game beyond Remo in the 68th minute but his rebound off a spilled ball by Kayode Bankole was denied by the woodwork.
Moments later, Bankole produced a super save to deny the hosts again from a Divine Nwachukwu’s free kick.
There was however no denying Insurance a third as second half wiht substitute Austin Ogunye finished off the game with a pile driver inside box after he was teed up with a back heel by Nwachukwu.
The hosts saw off the game 3-0, condemning their visitors to their first defeat of the season while hey moved top of the group with 12 points from four matches.
