Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo has narrated his experience with armed robbers in Ubulu Okiti, Delta State.
The actor took to his Instagram page where he shared the horrible experience which happened on Sunday as they were travelling back home from a movie set.
“Last night while coming back from work I was robbed at gunpoint,” he said in the video shared on Monday.
“I was riding in my car with my colleagues, Georgina Ibeh and Shire twins and we were robbed around Ubulu Okiti at gunpoint.
“They stole everything, took everything, phones; ransacked the vehicle. Took footwear, production shoes, my bags with my passport in one of them and personal belongings. My Permanent Voters Card, my ID card and lots of things.”
Odonwodo said he had sighted the roadblock set up by the robbers from a distance. However, when he tried to reverse his car, he ended up hitting a colleague, Emma Umeh, who was driving behind him.
Afterwards, the armed robbers came out from the bushes flanking the road, asked them to lay down, and ransacked the vehicle.
“When they asked us to drive away, we drove. On getting to the Customs checkpoint, we reported,” he continued. “The Customs actually told us that a first set of people had come to report that they were stabbed, injured. It’s a regular occurrence on that same spot.”
The actor further revealed that Georgina Ibeh whom they left at the scene of the incident was almost raped by the robbers. According to her, she was only released after she told the men she was on her period.
The actor called on the appropriate authorities to take action concerning the particular road as it had become a regular issue.
“It’s not like the police don’t know, I’m very sure they know this. I’m calling on the Commissioner of Police, Delta state. I’m calling on the Governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa to please do something about this,” he said.
He further advised that people get their Permanent Voters Card and cast their votes this coming February.
