Ahead of the February 25, 2023, general elections, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that he would be meeting with the candidates of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso; and Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, to support his ambition.
The former Vice President disclosed this during an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
Responding to questions in the Hausa language, Atiku boasted that both Obi and Kwankwaso are not threats to his chances of emerging victorious at the February 25 poll.
He said, “Although, I see no threat in any of them but we are in talks, and the discussion might yield a positive result that will see one of them coming.”
On the lingering PDP crisis, Atiku said each party has its internal crisis and theirs will not be an exemption but they are looking to solve every difference in no distant time.
Atiku said, “Each party has its internal crisis, we are still talking with them. Most are neither in PDP nor in other parties and definitely that will not make us lose the election because we are okay with the election preparations for now.
“Election now is not like in the past when a governor will dictate who to vote for, election today is in the hands of the voters,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are failed political parties.
Kwankwaso made this disclosure on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The former governor of Kano State while addressing hundreds of NNPP supporters at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado Ibadan, urged Nigerians to reject the APC and PDP with their votes.
He said that it is glaring that the two political parties have nothing to offer the country.
Kwankwaso, while addressing the gathering during the presidential campaign in Ibadan, insisted that NNPP remains the party to beat in the next general elections.
The NNPP candidate, while speaking further, stressed that if Nigerians allow the APC and PDP to continue to rule the country, only God knows what will happen to the country.
He also cautioned Nigerians not to fall victim to religious and tribal sentiment in this year’s general elections.
He said, “APC and PDP cannot offer Nigeria anything again. Some of them are having issues, some are having personality issues. Let’s go and do the right thing.
“Nigeria as a country deserves much better leaders unlike what we are presently having under the ruling APC and the PDP”.
