Chief Lateef Jakande’s widow, Abimbola, has commended Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for establishing the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, billed for launch this month.
She made the commendation, yesterday, when the Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, visited her, to formally introduce the academy to her and brief her on its objectives and progress made since last year when Sanwo-Olu announced its creation.
The late Jakande was Second Republic governor of Lagos, and his administration has been described as unmatched in the erstwhile nation’s capital.
The commissioner, who was accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the academy, Folashade Coker, also used the opportunity to present letters for the launch and nomination of a Jakande family member to the board.
Two of Jakande’s children, Deji and Dr. (Mrs.) Lanre Adeboye, who joined their mother to receive the team, equally expressed appreciation to the governor and indicated willingness to work with the officials of the state government for the launch, which coincides with the memorial of their father’s death.
