Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has told the people of Maiha Council in Adamawa State that their only hope to enjoy a good road is to vote former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as Nigeria’s next President.
Addressing a mammoth crowd in Maiha, yesterday, during his campaign tour, the governor stated that all his efforts to convince the Federal Government to build the highway were fruitless.
“The only hope for you people to get Jabbi Lamba-Belel road constructed is to vote Atiku, your son, to become President in the next general election. The state government don’t have the resources to handle the project,” he advised.
Fintiri assured the people that his administration will soon commission the new campus of Adamawa State University (ADSU) located in Maiha.
He said in the next few weeks, his government would commence work on connecting Maiha Gari to the national grid, abandoned by successive administrations.
On the 37-killometre Pella-Maiha road linking Hong and Maiha councils, the governor said the contract had been re-awarded.
“The road awarded by successive administrations in the state was abandoned by the contractor, who failed to execute the project according to contractual agreement,” he added.
To ensure contractor mobilise to site, Fintiri said N1.3 billion was released for take-off of the project last week.
He appealed to the people of Belel, Sorou and Konkol to re-elect him for continuity of good governance and vote for all PDP candidates from top to bottom in the forthcoming elections.
In his remarks, State Chairman of the party, Tahir Shehu, recalled how people of Maiha contributed significantly in the formation of the party, saying with their support, the party would win the upcoming polls.
Highlight of the event was defection of hundreds of All Progressives Congress (APC), citing Fintiri’s good governance as the reason for their action.
