A division of the Court of Appeal sitting in Kano on Friday recognised Sadiq Wali as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State.
In a unanimous judgment, the appellate court struck out the judgment of the lower court, which upheld Mohammed Abacha, as the Kano State governorship candidate in Kano State.
In his reaction, Mohammed Abacha’s counsel, Tudun Wada, said, “We will apply for the judgment, read it, study it and we will know the next line of action to take based on the directive of our client, Mohammed Abacha.”
In a unanimous judgment, delivered by Justice Usmn Musa, the court held that Abacha had no locus standi to challenge the primary election that produced Wali since he never participated in the poll.
