The Nigerian Medical Association has urged Nigerians to resist all forms of provocation and attempts to sell their conscience on Saturday.
The NMA also urged them to jettison ethnicity, religious and ethnic bigotry.
The President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Uche Ojinmah, said this in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, noting that it’s time to vote for the positive interest of Nigeria.
On January 25, Nigeria’s President, Vice President, and members of the Senate and the House of Representatives will be elected across the country, while the governorship and state assembly elections will be held on March 11, 2023.
The elections will mark 24 years of uninterrupted democracy in the country.
He said, “It’s another national election once again but this year’s election is very important because of our recent experiences as a people.
“Our country stands at the precipice. We can reclaim it or push it over. I believe that we can turn this country once again into a great nation and the giant of Africa if we elect a good leader. God has bestowed a lot on Nigeria to be a great nation and all we need now is a good leader.
“Let’s all eschew bitterness and rancour. Let’s jettison ethnicity, religious and ethnic bigotry, party loyalty over loyalty to the nation, and all bias. It’s time to vote for the positive interest of Nigeria. Resist all provocation and attempts to buy your conscience.”
Ojinmah further admonished them to troop out in large numbers to vote for the best candidates during the election.
“Refuse to be cowed by threats of violence and death. Let’s all go out on Saturday, February 25, 2023, to vote for only the best candidates for the betterment of our dear nation.
“May your conscience be calmed by the choices you shall make,” he noted.
