The former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and Special Adviser (Political Affairs) to the State Governor, Chief Jide Awe, has urged the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to not only be humane in victory, but also find a way to reach out to other aggrieved contestants, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
He said that if Tinubu wants to avoid distractions during his tenure, he must find a way to reconcile with some of the fellow contestants in the presidential election who felt very bitter about the outcome of the polls.
The APC chieftain, who gave the advice, at the weekend, during a media briefing in Ado-Ekiti, described Tinubu as a distance runner whose time has come as the president, adding that the victory is not for a single man, but belongs to the entire citizens of the country.
entire citizens of the country.
MEANWHILE, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South-West Zone, has congratulated Tinubu, urging him to find a better policy to make people comfortable, address unemployment and find a way whereby students graduating into the labour market get jobs easily.
This was contained in a statement signed by Coordinator of NANS Zone D (South-West), Adejuwon Emmanuel Olatunji and made available to The Guardian in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, at the weekend.
The Zone D NANS also urged the president-elect to prioritise the education system as well as other sectors.
ALSO, a non-denominational group, Christian Conscience, has appealed to the president-elect to, as a matter of priority, address the problems of Nigerians as soon as he is sworn in as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federation.
The group, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Dr. (Mrs) Yetunde Akinluyi and National Secretary, Rev. (Dr.) Kolawole Verrals and made available to journalists by its National Publicity Director, Tunji Oguntuase, applauded the president-elect’s speech in which he said he would offer those that contested against him the opportunity to join as partners in nation-building.
