A pro-Tinubu group, Nigeria Youth Coalition for Tinubu (NYCT), yesterday, urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to be just in sharing political offices by ensuring regional equity and religious balances.
The group, therefore, urged the APC to zone Senate Presidency to the South-East in the 10th National Assembly, making a case for Chief Orji Uzor Kalu who is a Christian.
According to the statement jointly signed by its National Co-ordinator, Habib Olalekan Hammed and North Co-ordinator, Muhammad Bello Billgate, the group stated: “Since the President-elect and his deputy are Muslims, justifiably, the Senate President should be a Christian.
“Meanwhile, the Vice President-elect comes from North-East and we already have APC National Chairman from North Central, while the House of Representatives Speaker’s slot has been rumoured to be zoned to North-West.
“With these facts, South-East zone should be given the opportunity to produce Senate President in the 10th National Assembly and the person that is most qualified for the position is Chief Orji Uzor Kalu who is a Christian.
“Moreover, he has what it takes in terms of experience to mount the prestigious position. For the sake of unity, fairness and justice, he should be considered.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian youth leaders, under the aegis of the Conference of State Youth Parliament Speakers, yesterday, congratulated the President-elect, Tinubu, on his victory in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.
This was contained in a statement signed by its Chairman and Speaker, Ekiti Youth Parliament), Toba Fatunla and others.
The youth parliament leaders, therefore, urged the former Lagos State Governor to use the victory to make impact in the lives of the teeming Nigerian youths who are ready to contribute to the development of the largest economy in Africa.
According to the statement made available to journalists by the Conference’s image-maker, Fawole Israel Opeyemi, the youth leaders also charged Tinubu to embrace the philosophy of youth inclusion and empowerment across all zones in his administration.
Fatunla urged the incoming president to strengthen the youth system.
Also, the chairman, elders and entire members of the Eyo Laba Ekun of Lagos have congratulated Tinubu on his victory, thanking all Nigerians that stood by him.
General Secretary of the Eyo Laba Ekun, Mr. Kabiru Disu, in a statement, yesterday, on behalf of the group, expressed appreciation to all that stood by Tinubu for ensuring that his aspirations became real and dream-fulfilled.
Disu, who is the Olori Eyo, prayed that “Almighty God that had been with the party, the President-elect, the vice president elect and indeed Nigerians as a whole, will grant Tinubu good health and wisdom to overcome all the challenges of the new office in his quest to build a new Nigeria.
