United Patriots Assembly of Nigeria (UPAN), yesterday, hailed Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for “conducting free, fair and credible elections” across the country, which led to the emergence of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as president-elect.
The group also endorsed Governors Babatunde Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for a second term in office. The group, according to a statement by its National Facilitator, Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo, and Secretary General, Usman Dauda, made the endorsement while appraising the presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 25.
The statement reads: “Arising from a painstaking assessment of the presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 25, it is pertinent to salute INEC and the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. ”
“From our lucid evaluation of the commission’s proactive measures before, during and after the elections, which were substantially free, fair and credible, it is most reasonable for the presidential candidates to commend the Commission for reinforcing its corporate dignity as an unbiased umpire.”
