The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile Oluji, Ondo State, has approved the appointment of Mr Samson Omogbehiin, as the rector of the polytechnic in an acting capacity.
This followed the expiration of the two-term tenure of the pioneering rector, Prof. Emmanuel Fasakin, whose tenure ended on March 10, 2023.
The development was contained in a statement issued by Registrar and Secretary to Council of the Polytechnic, Mr Gabriel Awe.
The statement was made available to our correspondent on Monday through the Deputy Registrar, Information and Protocol of the institution, Sanmi Enigbokan.
According to the statement, Omogbehin, prior to his appointment, is a senior lecturer in the institution and he will act for six months when the substantive rector will be appointed.
It read, “The appointment of Mr Omogbehin is for a period of six months pending the appointment of a substantive rector or whichever one comes earlier.
“Until his appointment, Mr Omogbehin is a chief lecturer in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology and the pioneering Dean of the School of Applied Sciences.
“As the acting Rector, he shall be charged with the general responsibility for matters relating to the day-to-day management operations of the polytechnic and also perform such other duties as the Council may, from time to time, assign to him.”
