Rivers State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 65-year-old lady, identified as Angela Sunday, in possession of 800 grammes of Methamphetamine with a street value of N4 million.
The Command, in a statement, signed by its Public Affairs Officer, Media and Advocacy Unit, Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, said operatives of Command carried out state-wide raids and arrested three drug kingpins.
Ogbumgbada said the raid took place in areas like Odagwa in Etche Local Council, Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Council, and Okrika and Ogale in Eleme Local Council of the state, stressing that the feat was achieved following credible intelligence.
According to him, “On Thursday, April 6, at about 5:00p.m., operatives of the Command executed a raid operation at Odagwa, Etche and arrested one Angela Sunday, ‘f,’ in possession of 800 grammes of methamphetamine, with a street value of N4 million.”
He said the woman was also found with 250 grammes of Cannabis sativa and 59grammes of heroin.
“Still on the same operational stride, one Juliet Eze ,’f’, was found with 47grammes of Cannabis sativa, seven grammes of Methamphetamine, 3.5 grammes of cocaine, and 3grammes of heroin, respectively,” he added.
In a similar development, Ogbumgbada noted that while acting on an order from the Agency’s Directorate of General Investigation (DOGI), and credible intelligence provided by a whistleblower, operatives of the Command in Ahoada, executed another raid operation at Omoku, at about 9:00a.m. on Friday, April 7, and arrested one man, Identified as Monday Lucky, with 2.5 grammess of methamphetamine and one gramme of Cannabis sativa, respectively.
He said the operatives at Okrika Area Command at about 10:30a.m. of Friday, April 7, arrested one Johnson Baadee ‘male’ with 4.3kg of Cannabis sativa at Ogale – Eleme.
MEANWHILE, the Command in March, arrested 23 drug peddlers, including 17 males and six females with a total drug seizure of 208.864 kilogrammes, comprising cocaine, heroin, Cannabis sativa, methamphetamine (Mkpurunmiri) and psychotropic substances.
Ogbumgbada said the Command also secured conviction of 17 drug defendants at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, who are all serving their jail terms at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.
Also, Rivers State Commander, Ahmed Mamuda, has urged residents to come forward with information that will enable the Agency to sanitise the society of illicit drugs.
