Former President of All Nigerian-American Congress (ANAC), Amina Temitope Ajayi (popularly known as Mama Diaspora), has called on Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations, to support the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, in making the country greater.
Ajayi, who spoke at a media briefing organised by the Yoruba Council Worldwide (YCW) in Lagos, observed that the former Lagos State governor is a detribalised person, who would unify the nation and carry all along.
The event was jointly addressed by Ajayi and the Council President, Aare Oba Oladotun Hassan. They reviewed the state of the nation and harped on smooth transition on May 29 to promote the Omoluabi festival, ethos and culture of excellence.
Hassan said Ajayi would be installed ‘Yeye Atunluse Oodua Agbaye’ on May 1 during the Omuluabi festival at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
He, however, welcomed Tinubu, urging support for him before and after his inauguration on May 29.
Ajayi, who pledged that the president-elect would address the yearnings of youths and women, appealed to the incoming administration to address energy crisis in Nigeria.
Ajayi noted that a transformed energy industry could transform Nigeria.
She said: “Everybody should forget his or her political differences. God chooses who He wants. It is now for us to accept it.
“Every private sector (person) should say to himself or herself that it is our turn. This government is our government. I think democracy is alive. Democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. It is our government. Whether you vote for him or not, somebody in our compound voted for him. Somebody in our family voted for him. Automatically, he is our President.
“As a mother and as a leader, I appeal to everyone to accept reality. All the young adults in this country should consider themselves lucky. All the women should also consider themselves blessed.”
