Three Kebbi pupils regain freedom after two years in captivity
There was pandemonium in Runji Community, Zangon Kataf Local Council of Kaduna State, yesterday, when a Fulani militia killed a villager, Danladi Duduk.
Leader of Runji Community, Koniyan Ben, who confirmed the incident, said the victim lived close to the Anglican Church in the community where the bandits unleashed terror.
In a telephone chat, yesterday, the community leader said: “The assailants came using herds as cover, few minutes after 2.00p.m. and started firing with sophisticated guns, including a revolver machine gun, which scared away all people in the community.
“The attack took only a few minutes after which the assailants rushed back towards the direction of Zango Urban using the cows as cover.”
Koniyan further narrated that when the militia left, the residents went to where the attack occurred and found the lifeless body of Duduk by a shed near his house.
Runji is where 33 people were recently killed and about 40 houses razed in a night attack two weeks ago.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Muhammad Jalige, could not be reached on telephone to confirm the incident, at the time of filing this report.
THREE of the remaining seven girls of the Federal Government College, Birnin-Yauri, Kebbi State, kidnapped two years ago, have regained their freedom.
The chairman, parents of the abducted pupils’ forum, Salim Kaoje, who disclosed this to newsmen, yesterday, stated that the three girls were released to them on Sunday evening by the abductors, but they arrived Kebbi on Monday afternoon.
Ka’oje added that the girls are with the state government.
Recall that 96 girls of Federal Government College, Birnin-Yauri, were abducted when the school was attacked on June 17, 2021.
Those released are Elizabeth Nwafor, Esther Sunday and Aliya Abubakar.
It was not clear if ransom was paid for their release.
With the latest development, four girls are still with the bandits.
