A former Director of the dissolved All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council in charge of artisans and technicians directorate, Sanusi Rikidi, on Wednesday assured stakeholders that the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will not disappoint them.
While allaying their fear, Rikidi told the worried artisans that the disbandment of the PCC does not connote that their contributions to the election victory of the president-elect would be forgotten.
His reassurance is coming in the wake of Tinubu’s trip to Europe on a working visit.
A statement released in Abuja by his media office, the president-elect will also use the opportunity of the trip to fine-tune his transition programmes and his policy options with some of his key aides without unnecessary pressures and distractions.
Before his departure, Tinubu held a closed door meeting with the ruling party’s consensus candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu respectively.
The duo was presented to him by the Joint Task Team of the House.
Addressing hundreds of craftsmen under the aegis of Association of Nigeria Artisans and Technicians in Abuja, Rikidi appealed to them to remain hopeful, saying the president-elect would fulfill his campaign promises.
Continuing, the politician appreciated their active participation in rallies and electoral duties under the leadership of the PCC Director General, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State and the Secretary, James Faleke.
The former speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly also reassured the audience that Tinubu has an indelible reputation for rewarding loyalty and commitment.
He said, “Exactly five months ago (December 10, 2022), we the leadership of the artisans and technicians directorate took it upon ourselves to converge over 5,000 artisans and technicians nationwide to publicly declare our support for the then APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who has now become the president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“In light of the event, we launched the operation 30:30 in which all artisans and technicians nationwide were tasked to mobilize 30 artisans per polling unit in their various local governments to mobilize for the presidential election and they performed well.
“Today, Nigerians have witnessed what our artisans and technicians have done for the success of this election. Therefore we hope and we believe by the special grace of God, Nigerian artisans will be engaged in all the activities of government going forward immediately after the swearing in. Our activities after the election have been quite eventful as we have been paying courtesy visits to the leadership of the party to congratulate our leaders and remind them of their campaign promises to the Nigerian artisans and technicians.
“The artisans and technicians of this country are expected to be engaged in developing the economy of Nigeria. This is the first time a directorate for Nigerian artisans and technicians was being created for a presidential election and we are grateful for that privilege to serve.”
