Reports have it that the incident happened four days ago, but started trending yesterday. In the 45 seconds video, the police officers were seen beating the commercial motorcyclist with sticks and left him with bloodied forehead.
A citizen, Blessyon, wrote: “Benjamin Hundeyin, we saw on your page, you arrested a lady for assaulting a police officer and charging her to court. We will like to know the date you are charging the police officers in this video to court for assaulting an unarmed citizen because of a bike, so we can witness it.”
Also, Olusegun Peter said: “Is he an armed robber? Why beating him like a common criminal like this? Even if he is a criminal, the right thing to do is to arrest him and prosecute him in a court of law.”
When The Guardian reached out to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, he refused to pick his call or respond to messages sent to his phone as at press time.
