French Ligue 1 club Lille have made a concrete offer for KAA Gent striker Gift Orban, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Orban, 20, whose contract runs until June 30, 2027 has scored 20 goals in 20 appearances for Gent since his arrival in Belgium in January.
According to Belgian website, Voetbalkrankt, the French club are keen to sign the explosive striker as a direct replacement for another ex-Gent star Jonathan David.
Canada international David cost Lille €27m and he now set to make a big move in the summer after he netted 22 times in 35 appearances this season.
Lille are currently fifth on the Ligue 1 table and so in the bracket to play European football next season even though Rennes are pressing hard on them.
Gent are in dire financial problems and so need the cash to get them out of this mess and hopefully Orban will go for record fee to ease their predicament.
Speaking about his future recently, the former Stabeak forward had expressed his desire to play in the English Premier League.
“The Premier League is my ultimate dream,” Orban told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“Manchester United, Liverpool or Manchester City. I don’t really like Arsenal – it’s like they don’t want to win titles. Under Arsene Wenger, the club went 10 years without winning the league. They play and sell players – that’s it. I want to go somewhere, where they win prizes.”
His compatriot, Victor Osimhen used Lille as launch pad to Italian Serie A club Napoli and superstardom.
