Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu has vowed to deal with petroleum marketers and owners of fuel stations in the state hoarding the product.
Akeredolu made this known in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, in Akure.
Akeredolu, has therefore directed the states Task Force to move round and deal with those hoarding the product.
He said that this became important due to the long queues which had surfaced at filling stations across the state, especially in Akure, since Monday.
The governor said all petrol stations in the state should dispense fuel in their tanks to ease the people of the long hours spent at fuel stations.
On Monday Nigeria’s new president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his inaugural speech after his swearing in, announced that there wouldn’t be petrol subsidy.
Dealers immediately increased the pump price to between N400 and N500 per litre and commuters in Ondo were stranded as transport fares jumped up by 100 percent.
On Tuesday, Osun governor Ademola Adeleke threatened to close fuel stations hoarding petrol.
In a statement through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, any fuel station found guilty of hoarding fuel to create artificial scarcity shall be sealed off and operators prosecuted for crime of economic sabotage.
