A multiple fatal crash that occurred at Shadarki Village, along Darazo – Bauchi road, in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has claimed the lives of eight people.
Six other people sustained various degrees of injuries in the crash that occurred 12 kilometers away from the Darazo Base of the Federal Road Safety Corp.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent late Wednesday night saying that the crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
He said that the crash involved two vehicles, a commercial and a private.
“The crash occurred on Wednesday at 1.32 pm and we were immediately informed about it. Our men rushed to the scene of the incident within 10 minutes for a rescue operation.
“The crash involved 14 people – five male adults, six female adults, two male children and one female child.
“Immediately our rescue team arrived at the scene of the incident, they evacuated the victims to the General Hospital, Darazo, for medical treatment and confirmation.
“While there, a medical doctor confirmed eight of them dead. The corpses were deposited at the morgue while the injured are being treated.
“Those confirmed dead – two male adults, three female adults, two male children and one female child. Three male adults and three female adults sustained bruises, head injury and fracture,” he said.
Abdullahi said that the two vehicles involved in the crash are a white private Toyota pickup van with registration number: BPP 041 while the second one is a Volkswagen Golf car, also white in colour with registration number: DX 65 EKY.
“The crash was caused by wrongful overtaking.”
He said that four phones and personal effects.
