Ekid People’s Union (EPU), in consultation with relevant institutions, said it would soon inaugurate a planning committee to drive the burial rites of late Prelate Emiritus, Dr Sunday Coffie Mbang.
In a statement signed by its National President General, Dr. Samuel Udonsak, and National Secretary General, Bassey Dan Abia, the apex body of Ekid nation revealed that the paramount ruler of Eket and grand patron of EPU, His Majesty, Edidem Abia, has formally received notification of Mbang’s death and has formally informed EPU.
The late prelate was a distinguished and revered son of Ekid nation. It traditionally falls on the shoulders of EPU to drive his burial rites in collaboration with relevant institutions such as government and the Christendom.
The statement reads: “On behalf of Ekid people, its leadership and the union, we express our grief and sadness at the irreplaceable loss of Prelate Mbag.
“At this moment of the prelate’s peaceful passing, we must lift our spirits as we bask in joy and pride at memories of him that we cherish.
“Memories of several years of his unbroken, diligent and faithful service, in various capacities, to family, community, Church, nation and the world.”
