Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has said citizens will not regret voting him and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates into power, as they are poised to bring about positive development to the state.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Gumel, in a statement, yesterday, quoted the governor as making the remark at an event to celebrate the electoral victory of Sen. Babangida Hussaini (Jigawa North-West) in Kazaure, at the weekend.
“I assure the people of Jigawa that, from the governor to the senators, House of Representatives and House of Assembly members, insha Allah, we will not fail you. You will not regret voting for us as your leaders. We will join hands to work for you because our only goal is to develop Jigawa.
“From the start of this journey, we outlined a 12-point blueprint that was published in both Hausa and English and widely shared with the people.”
‘We will implement these developmental ideas, and I urge every citizen of Jigawa to join hands with us and make this a reality,” the governor was quoted as saying.
Namadi said that his administration would place more emphasis on youth development, as it is critical for development and progress.
He added: “The youths are the backbone of our progress. Based on the recent mock census, the population of Jigawa stands at 7.5 million.
Out of this, 3.2 million are youths. Therefore, it will not be wise for the state government to leave you behind. This is one more reason we set up an agency that would cater for the needs of the youths in the state.”
The governor encouraged the people of the state to contribute to the governance of their affairs by advising the government whenever the need arises, but warned against abusing such opportunities.
