Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, has been re-elected unopposed by the 31 members who were inaugurated, yesterday, for the 10th Assembly.
Suleiman, who was elected in 2019 as a first time lawmaker representing Ningi Central Constituency, was made Speaker and has made history by being a two-term Speaker.
The Clerk of the House, Umar Yusuf Gital, presided over the inauguration and read the proclamation from Governor Bala Mohammed before members of the 10th Assembly went into election of principal officers.
Mubarak Haruna of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), representing Jama’are Constituency, presented a motion nominating Suleiman as Speaker. Auwal Hassan representing Shira Constituency seconded him.
Also, Jamilu Umaru Dahiru, member representing Bauchi Central Constituency, was elected as Deputy Speaker. Habibu Umar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), (Kirfi Constituency) nominated him while Bello Sarkin Jadori (PDP) representing Gamawa Constituency seconded.
Abubakar called for support and cooperation among members, adding that his leadership would remain transparent and accessible to all at all times.
“I am ready to collaborate, work, share ideas and interact with every one of you collectively or otherwise and accept any constructive criticism, advice, opinion or suggestion toward achieving our collective goal of moving Bauchi State forward.”
