Governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo 2020, Kenneth Imasuagbon, yesterday, vowed to resist political godfathers in the state that have been frustrating his political aspiration, saying the era of godfatherism in the state is gone.
Imasuagbon, who is now a Labour Party (LP) chief, said politics of godfatherism has become history with the coming on board of the LP.
He said the coming governorship election in the state would ensure that only the best candidate emerges.
Imasuagbon, who spoke shortly after he was officially presented the LP membership identity card by the Edo State Chairman of LP, Kelly Ogbaloi, vowed to retire all political godfathers in the state, particularly across the ruling PDP and opposition APC.
He said the strongmen of Edo politics, including Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, of the PDP and Adams Oshiomhole of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will no longer have a field day as the LP will not only humble the duo but take over the state.
Imasuagbon said his joining LP and getting the governorship ticket is a clear indication that he would deliver Edo State.
“Two weeks ago, I was received in Abuja by the LP National Chairman, Julius Abure. Yesterday, I was in my village, Ward 2 Ewohimi, where I formally joined LP and today, I was received by the state exco led by Kelly Ogbaloi.”
