Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission is to open fresh investigation of immediate past Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on his alleged involvement in the viral dollar videos.

Reinstated chairman of the commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado, dropped the hint at a press conference, yesterday, in the ancient city.
Rimin-Gado, who was suspended by Ganduje for reported abuse of powers and financial misappropriation, vowed to unveil content of the widespread video.
Although, the anti-graft crusader confessed that he could not delve into the entire matter then as it unfolded because his hands were tied as an officer under the ex-governor, he, however, said times are rather ripe to look into the matter.
“I mean every word I said when I was in office. We opened an investigation, but there were certain limitations then because he was the incumbent governor. Every incumbent governor, deputy governor or President has immunity.”
Now that the limitation is no more, the commission will do what is necessary,” Rimin-Gado stated.
BUT former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Musa Abdullahi Lawal, has described the decision to reopen Ganduje’s alleged stockpile of dollars as an act of ignorance. He cautioned that the move would amount to abuse of court processes since the case is before the Court of Appeal Court, Abuja.
Lawal hinted that the case had two faces – criminal and civil. The criminal aspect, he observed, is being investigated by the police, while the civil side is before the appellate court.
He cautioned against action that could jeopardise ongoing investigation of the matter by both bodies. Ganduje had filed a fresh suit in March this year, asking the Federal High Court to grant a perceptual injunction against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from probing him on the matter.
