To check insecurity and brief them on his policy thrust, acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has concluded plans to meet with Mobile Police Commanders, popularly called MOPOLs.
MOPOL is the standby combat squad of the force. Some officers call them the biting arm of the police. The team would go as far as to assist the IGP in achieving his aim of ensuring a Nigeria, where insecurity is reduced to the barest minimum.
The police boss has reassured Nigerians that security of life and property would be improved upon. Speaking on the meeting, force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, submitted: “The IGP has reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), under his watch, to attain its primacy in the internal security architecture of the country.
“In furtherance of his vision and painstaking drive to achieve his goals, the Acting IGP will be meeting with Commanders of the seventy-nine (79) Police Mobile Force squadrons on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Force Headquarters, Abuja to upskill them on new operational strategies for improved training, deployments and enhanced tactical engagements for better public safety and general security for all and sundry.”
“The Ag. IGP assures that the present leadership of the force has outlined an array of policing approaches that will be of immense importance to general public safety in Nigeria.”
