The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had secured jail terms for four internet fraudsters through a State High Court sitting in Benin, Edo State capital and arrested 33 suspects for a similar offence in the city.
The anti-graft agency, in separate statements via its Twitter handle, @officialEFFCC on Tuesday, stated that 22-year-old Belebi Koko, Igwe Favour, 22, Destiny Igwe, 24 and Ojo Jolly, 25, were convicted and sentenced by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of the State High Court.
“Justice Ikponmwonba convicted and sentenced Favour, Igwe, Koko and Jolly to three years imprisonment with an option of N200,00 as a fine,” the commission wrote.
Meanwhile, the EFCC in a separate statement on Tuesday added that its operatives in Benin Zonal Command arrested Timothy Odion, Destiny Otokhune, Bright Akhabue, Isaac Eghosa, Philip Anderson, Kennedy Osagie, Kabiru Mohammed, Erharuyi Osaigbovo, Amalawa Kingsĺey, Obasohen Kelvin and Emmanuel Imuentinyan.
Others are Eghosa Osadebamwen, Akhere Destiny, Evans Jesse, Kazeem Samson, Luma Kayode, Festus Iyenfunmwena, Osagie Emmanuel, Chinoso Okoye, Michael Okoh, Yadina Chukwudi, Kelvin Amenze, Aikorogie Osarenmweda and Samuyi Ajayi.
Other suspects are Sylvester Anointed, Ekhator Osamudiamwen, Oneh Endurance, Etinosa Ogieva, Marvellous Osawaru, Akhere Jeffrey, Oweka Augustine, George Festus and Lucky Junior.
The agency further noted that items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include six exotic cars, mobile phones and laptops.
