Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday invaded the farm of a former Senator representing Kwara South, Simeon Ajibola, and killed the farm’s supervisor identified as Biodun Ajibola.
The deceased was said to be a relative of the erstwhile legislator.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Ajibola was murdered while trying to resist the hoodlums’ attempt to kidnap him on the farm located in Isapa, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The armed men were said to have stormed the farm around 8am.
A family source who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday said the kidnappers’ move to go with the farm supervisor’s driver, Segun Adeleye, failed after they sighted some motorcyclists coming in their direction.
The source said, “Thank God that Senator Simeon Ajibola was not around. Perhaps they intended to take him away. But the supervisor in charge of the farm was not lucky as he was killed when the kidnappers invaded the farm,” he said.
“Senator Ajibola’s driver attached to the late supervisor was wounded and he is currently in the hospital in Ilorin.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our correspondent.
He said policemen were on the trail of the hoodlums.
