A 70-year-old woman, Victoria Adebiyi, who was reported missing in the Magodo area of Lagos State has been found in Ifo, Ogun State.
PUNCH Metro had reported on Monday that Adebiyi, said to be suffering from dementia, got missing from the residence of her daughter, Seyi Bashola, in the Shangisha, Magodo area of Lagos since last Monday.
Family members however confirmed to our correspondent that the woman was found at the Cele Bus Stop area of Ifo in Ogun State on Wednesday.
Bashola said, “I am happy that we have been able to locate Mama in the Cele area of Ifo. She was found by a good Samaritan who heard the news on the radio.
“When he saw her walking around the community, he and others contacted the vigilante unit of the community and they took her to the Ifo Police Station.
“We went there and we saw her and they have handed her over to us for prompt care as I speak with you. The Adebiyis are grateful to the management of PUNCH newspapers and all other media houses for their efforts in helping us to locate our mother.”
Bashola’s sibling, Seye, also confirmed the development while thanking the management of PUNCH newspapers.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that the woman had been reunited with her family.
“The woman has been reunited with her family members. The Ifo Police Station was where she was taken to by some members of the public and her family members were called and she has been released to them,” she said.
