The STEAM Funfest 2023 has said children should be encouraged to gain knowledge in fields that provide solutions to emerging challenges.
As such, parents, guardians, and caregivers at the event were advised to encourage children in their care to embrace careers and skills in information technology.
A statement by the organisers quoted the Product Manager, Youth Segment, Access Bank, Mr Omoyiola Oladipupo, as saying it was high time parents guided their children into fields solving real problems for the moment and the future.
“In this information age, skills in science, technology, mathematics, coding, graphics, etc., are greatly needed to make lives easier for people. That is how they can excel in their chosen space,” he added.
Also, the CEO, Future Africa, Mr Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, said, “Nigeria urgently needs solutions to its problems. The children and youth are not just tomorrow’s consumers but also producers. The skills they learn at the STEAM Funfest are super skills that they must use with all sense of responsibility.”
At the event, children were exposed to coding, animation, robotics, science experiments, 3D printing, game development, and others.
The co-founder, 9ijakids, Titi Adewusi, said experts were invited to teach the children about the skills needed to aid national development.
