The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, says a trailer accident and rainfall, among others,, have been responsible for the traffic challenge faced by commuters on the Lekki-Epe Expressway which is under construction.
The commissioner, in a statement on Tuesday, said the government was aware of the hardship motorists were facing while travelling on the expressway “and also wishes to state that their concerns are well noted, hence, it is committed to improving this vital route and ensuring a smoother and safer journey for all.”
While urging cooperation from motorists, the commissioner said, “The state Ministry of Transportation has engaged Craneburg (the construction firm) and other stakeholders, with each party committing to specific responsibilities to tackle the pressing issues affecting this vital infrastructure.
“Heavy rainfall has hindered road conditions and Craneburg will continue palliative work at Ogidan (Night) to ensure road motorability. A recent trailer accident caused temporary congestion and Craneburg will collaborate to ensure swift removal and traffic management during such incidents.”
The commissioner added that operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be stationed at the project site for effective traffic control.
