In a statement released by the telecom operator, the substantial financial commitment is aimed at advancing and fortifying telecom infrastructure in the West African nation.
The company expressed its dedication to this initiative as a part of its broader strategy to enhance connectivity and technological capabilities across the region.
The announcement came during a high-profile MTN Group leadership visit to Cotonou, where its representatives met with President Patrice Talon.
Top executives present at the meeting included MTN Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Ralph Mupita; MTN Benin Chairman, Amadou Raimi; Senior Vice President for Markets, Ebenezer Asante; MTN Benin CEO, Uche Ofodile; and MTN Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Nompilo Morafo.
“MTN works to be a force for good in our markets, giving Africans hope, dignity, and opportunity,” said Mupita.
He added, “We are grateful for the warm reception received in Benin, where we have trialed 5G services and see opportunities to progress this.
“We are committed to the development and upskilling of the Beninese youth and have made clear our desire to partner with the government and other stakeholders in this regard.”
