Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji, has expressed pains over the death of Mrs Esther Umere, mother of his Chief Liaison Officer, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere.
The Senator who represented Abia Central in the eight and ninth Senate, described the exit of the late Umere as “very painful and regrettable.”
Describing the deceased as “a virtuous woman, enterprising and kind-hearted mother who trained her children in the fear of God”, the former Governor said she left behind enduring legacies and values that will ever be appreciated by posterity.
He condoled with members of her immediate family particularly his aide, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, and the people of Ozu Abam community over the loss of the late Mrs Umere.
Senator Orji prayed God to grant the soul of the departed, eternal repose in his kingdom, and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The late Mrs Umere, 74, died in Umuahia on Sunday after a brief illness.
Meanwhile, Hon. Umere has described the death of his mother as “very devastating”, saying he is yet to recover from the shock.
The former Deputy Chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area, in a post, said his “beloved mother died in his hands, leaving him traumatised and devastated”.
