ABUJA – Following widespread protests in Minna and Kano over escalating economic challenges, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for claiming that opposition parties are inciting the unrest.
The PRP issued a statement on Wednesday, urging the ruling party to stop deflecting legitimate public grievances and to start addressing the pressing issues at hand.
Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the PRP, expressed deep concern over the APC’s narrative.
He said, “It is quite disheartening to see the All Progressives Congress resort to baseless accusations and fear-mongering in an attempt to deflect attention from the legitimate concerns raised by the Nigerian people.”
Ishaq further emphasized that the demonstrations were a grassroots expression of frustration, rather than a product of political manipulation.
According to him, the protests, which have swept through key cities in Nigeria, highlight the people’s struggle with “imposed hunger” and broader economic difficulties.
He added, “The citizens of Nigeria have the right to protest peacefully and demand accountability from their government.
“It is disingenuous for the APC to dismiss these protests as mere instigation by the opposition, when, in fact, they are a reflection of the growing discontent among the populace.”
Instead of engaging in a blame game, the PRP urged the APC to listen to the citizens’ grievances and engage in meaningful dialogue.
“We stand with the ordinary Nigerians across the length and breadth of this country suffering from bad governance.
“It is high time the APC stopped playing the blame game and focus on delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people.”
Ishaq explained that the party’s call to action is a plea for unity and constructive government action to curb the rising tide of public dissatisfaction.
