Gunmen have killed two persons in Opanda, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State on Sunday.
Two other passengers were also abducted on their way to Adani. The slain driver was a staff of Enugu State Transport Company, ENTRACO.
A community source said the incident happened at Akoro Valley at about 5pm on Sunday. He confirmed that the occupants of the bus were returning from Nsukka metropolis to Adani, in Uzo-Uwani when the incident happened.
The source said that some other passengers, including a retired headmaster also sustained bullet wounded from the criminals.
“They were attacked around Akoro Valley in Opanda. The bus driver and another woman who was returning from ‘omugwo’ died on the spot. They abducted two of the passengers including a popular beans seller known as SY Beans and another passenger.
“About six of the victims were severely wounded with bullets while those who acted fast managed to escape the kidnappers,” the source from community said.
Message sent to the Enugu state Police Command public relations officer, Daniel Ndukwe, a deputy Superintendent of Police to confirm the incident was not replied as at the time filing the report.
