A former Vice-Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-West, Salihu Lukman, said President Bola Tinubu must set up a crack team to engage all Nigerians.
Lukman stated this in an interview with Arise Television on Monday.
He said, “I have read the Renewed Hope document, and I’m confident that if translated into policy, it can renew the hope of Nigerians. I’m also convinced that it will move us beyond where former President Buhari left us.
“In translating the Renewed Hope agenda into government policies, the Tinubu-led government will introduce a kind of engagement strategy with Nigerians so that they can know the policies and ensure that Nigerians are supporting the government in what they are doing.
“Achieving all of that will require having an inclusive government that opens up for engagement and a clear strategy for engaging organised groups, including the labour union.
“The beauty of democracy is when the people have a say in what the government is doing.”
Lukman further said, “My big worry is that increasingly, President Tinubu seems to be talking like someone who has all the absolute knowledge of what the solution is. When this happens, it narrows down the capacity of the president to listen to what the people are doing.
“Also, the biggest worry in operating a close government under Tinubu is the All Progressives Congress (APC) because all the structures of the party have been shut down. No meeting is going on, especially with the situation in the country.”
