The Nigerian Army is planning to review its counter-terrorism and insurgency operations across the country.
This is to enable the service to make important decisions that will significantly improve the efficiency of the Nigerian Army.
The review, according to a statement on Friday by the Director, Army Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu will be the main focus of discussion at the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s first quarter conference scheduled for April 15 to 19.
Onyema said the programme will allow participants to appraise the conduct of Nigerian Army operations, training, and other activities in pursuit of its constitutional mandate within the first quarter of the year.
He added that targets, as well as projections for the second quarter, would also be revealed at the programme.
Onyema said, “During the conference, far-reaching decisions to shore up the efficiency of the service would also be taken into consideration. Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters, Corps, Formations, and Field Commanders, Commandants of NA Schools and Tri-Service Institutions, as well as selected NA Officers serving in key deployments, are expected to be in attendance.”
President Bola Tinubu attended the Chief of Army Staff conference held in Maiduguri in December 2023, where he vowed not to relent on his laurels in securing the country.
