Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar has remained mum over the N10 million damages slammed on her by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja for defaming Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries International.
When contacted by Potpourri on the Judgment, the actress politely declined comment, saying she’s not interested in any interview at the moment.
And on her Instagram page, there’s no recent post after the judgment that she’s perturbed by the development, rather she seems to be more concerned with making the most of her life and appreciating God the best she can.
“I’m filled with gratitude and the gift of life. God is good,” she posted on Tuesday and followed it with another post wishing the Muslim faithful happy Eid-el-Fitr.
Days before that, she posted, ” I’m very protective over this current version of me. It took a lot of mental, emotional and spiritual work for me to get to this stage. So, if I come off as if I’m ‘ too good’ for certain people, situations, events, conversations, whatever, it is because I am.” It is however unclear whether the post is connected to the current situation but it sure gives an inkling to the actress’ current state of mind.
In 2022, for several months, the popular actress accused the controversial cleric of failing in his promise to marry her. She alleged he afflicted her with an undisclosed life-threatening ailment that had plagued her for years.
After several warnings, in January 2023, Mr Suleman Suleman slammed Ms Abubakar with a N1 billion lawsuit for defaming him.
However, the hearing of the case marked FCT/HC/CV/3413/2022 began on 25 March 2023 with the judgment passed days ago.
