BARRING any last-minute changes, the process leading to the installation of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will begin in the next few weeks.
The Olubadan-designate, who hails from Okugbaja, in the Ita Baale area of Ibadan, has been nominated by the kingmakers.
A source, in a chat with Vanguard, said: “There is no more hindrance since the Olubadan in Council has nominated him.
“Expect the installation process within the next few weeks. The nomination of the new Olubadan has been passed through the South East Local Government Area.
“The local government will then take the nomination to the appropriate quarters for onward transmission to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde who will now give final approval for his installation.”
When asked if there wouldn’t be any complications arising from one of the kingmakers who did not attend the meeting where the nomination was done, he said he didn’t expect any complications.
“Ibadan people have a unique way of settling their disputes. Though, there was controversy initially, that has been laid to rest. All frayed nerves have been calmed. You will see how things’ll unfold within the next few weeks”, he said.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in Oyo State, Mr Olusegun Olayiwola confirmed receipt of the nomination letter from the South East Local Government.
Olayiwola said: “We received the letter from Ibadan South East local government.”
