Residents of Jakande Estate in Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, have decried epileptic power supply in the neighbourhood.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Chairman of the Estate Youths Parliament, Yusuf Adeyemi, in a meeting with the residents on Monday, lamented the poor power supply the residents were experiencing for the past year.
He said the EYP had been engaging the management of Ikeja Electric on the state of its power supply to the estate.
“Everybody in the estate is not happy with the erratic power supply.
“Considering the heat in the estate at this point, the night is usually not cozy,” he said.
He, therefore, appealed to Ikeja Electric to up their game by increasing the number of hours that power is supplied the estate.
Kayode Adeshina who is the 1st Vice-President of the estate, said the landlord association in conjunction with EYP was trying the best it could to engage Ikeja Electric on the number of hours of light supply.
He appealed that the estate should be placed on a band where there would be constant supply.
Another resident, Gbajumo Ibrahim, said the light supply to the estate was not encouraging.
Also, a resident of the estate, Funmilayo Olatona, lamented that the mode of supply of light in the estate had affected residents more negatively than positively.
On Friday, Ikeja Electric om X apologised to consumers on Band A feeders for “falling short of the expected minimum service level of 20 hours” for April 17 and 18.
