Super Eagles coach Finidi George has stated that the team will play total football, focusing on both attacking and defending robustly under his leadership starting from the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
The team is set to face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on June 7 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and the Squirrels of Benin Republic in Ivory Coast on June 10 Finidi emphasised that the team may not adhere to any specific tactics but will prioritize proper attacking and defending to secure victories in the matches.: “Tactics don’t matter because in football, no matter the tactics you come up with, you have to attack and defend.
If you can do that properly, you have a big chance of winning games,” he said. “You know, these players of ours are playing top-flight football in Europe. When they come back to Nigeria to play, we don’t have to change anything that they are not used to. If you want to talk about the tactical part of it, these players have played under different coaches at different times. And so, formation in football doesn’t really change from what we know. How many formations do we have? “Every formation has to do with the players and what they can bring in every given game. Our job is to motivate the players and make sure they are physically okay.
