The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on registered political parties to improve the quality of their leadership and candidates for elections, to address voter apathy.
The party in a statement issued on Saturday by its Coordinator, Aspirants’ College, Princes Nneka Nebo, also called on the parties to listen to voters while choosing their leaders.
The statement added that its proposed retreat, which holds in Abuja on Monday, will focus on party discipline and governance as well as digital organisation and mobilisation.
According to the statement, the retreat, with the theme: “What Nigerian Voters Want – A Strategic Public Engagement,” will be a follow-up to its summit held in Kaduna two weeks ago.
A former presidential aspirant on the platform of the party, Dr. Chukwuka Monye, who will serve as lead consultant of the retreat, is Wall Street Journal and Amazon Best selling author and social innovator.
The retreat will be followed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party on Tuesday.
According to the party, the retreat is part of a series of programmes aimed at building a strong institution with the capacity to provide political leadership for the country.
The retreat will be declared open by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad.
