The Kebbi State Government has called on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, to stop panicking and stop misquoting the Deputy Governor, Sen. Umar Abubakar-Tafida in the Local Government elections scheduled for August this year.
Alhaji Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Kebbi State Governor stated this while reacting to a press statement issued by the PDP Secretary, Kebbi State Abubakar Bawa-Kalgo a.k.a (ABK) misquoting the Dep. Gov.
He said the Dep. Gov. had not in any way said that the APC-led administration has finished all arrangements on how to win the local government elections in the state.
“I want to categorically tell the PDP in Kebbi State that what the Dep. Gov. means in his statement that, with the level of work His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris is doing to the good people of Kebbi State, we know that APC has no problem in the forthcoming local government elections.”
Idris observed that His Excellency has worked and is working for the interest of the people and with what the APC government did in the state, the party has no problem as far as election is concerned.
“I want to tell the PDP that there is no need for panic, no need for fear and no need for unnecessary criticism, the election is going to be free and fair.
“However, our one-year achievements in office are enough to speak for us and are enough for the good people of the state to reciprocate. Therefore, we have no fear to go to the polls because people know best which party to elect,” he said.
Idris advised the PDP to stop jumping from one place to another, instead, they should feel free and face reality, adding that: “It is now that you will witness free, fair and transparent elections across the state. It is not too late, PDP should go back to the drawing board to readjust.
“The people of Kebbi are going to elect the leaders they wanted. APC has no intention to impose candidate(s) on anybody. All the 21 local government areas are going to elect their leaders of choice.
“We are neither proud nor arrogant, but with what the APC administration did in just one year in office, we know that with Almighty Allah’s support, In Sha Allah, people will rally around this administration and vote APC to the best of their ability.
“We are not saying that people are going vote for APC forcefully but people are going to vote for us because of what we have achieved,” Idris noted.
The CPS assured that the upcoming elections would be transparent, free and fair, therefore, there is no need for any political party to panic.
He said the present administration of Kauran Gwandu didn’t want the Kebbi people to suffer in any ramifications, hence the decision of his government to execute different developmental projects across the state.
