President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently presiding over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Aso Villa Council Chamber in Abuja.
New Telegraph reports that Tuesday’s meeting follows last month’s extensive two-day session, which resulted in the development of approximately 20 policies and projects.
The key figures attending the current meeting are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the President’s Chief of Staff (CoS), Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Head of Service, Dr Folashade Yemi Esan, with a significant presence of ministers in attendance.
It would be recalled that President Tinubu shifted the FEC meetings from Wednesdays to Mondays when he inaugurated the council on August 28, 2023.
The Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, clarified on October 16, 2023, that the council would convene only when there are matters to address.
He said, “The President has approved that the Federal Executive Council meeting will now be happening on Mondays as against the traditional Wednesdays that we are used to.”
Despite this adjustment, the ongoing FEC meeting being held on a Tuesday has not been explained.
