A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Rufa’i Alkali has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the Ministry of Livestock Development.
Alkali, who made the commendation while speaking to some journalists, also asked all stakeholders to cooperate with the Federal Government for the success of the Ministry.
He said the Ministry of Livestock was long overdue, just as he commended the inclusion of the former INEC Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega in the committee.
He said, “We really express our delight to the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in line with the renewed Hope Agenda for the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development.
“This is something long overdue because we have been calling all previous governments, in spite of long-time planning for sustaining Agricultural development in the livestock industry.
“We are more delighted that Mr. President is the chairman with also a high-powered committee with Distinguished, highly respected Academia, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
“We believe the livestock transformation plan now is on course. So, we call on all stakeholders to cooperate with the federal government to ensure that this succeeds.”
It would be recalled that the Ministry was created on Tuesday after the Presidential Committee dedicated to the reform of the livestock industry submitted its report
The setting up of the committee was a sequel to the submission of a report from the National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Associated Conflicts in Nigeria.
